Queensland Young Professionals Working Group

The Queensland Young Professionals (YPs) is a working group of the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA).  The Group was formed to provide a forum for career development and networking for young professionals working or seeking work in the waste management industry.

Objectives of the working group are:

  • To develop events and programs that increase the skills, knowledge and experience of young professionals
  • To provide opportunities for young professionals to network with others new to the waste industry, in addition to more experienced  professionals
  • To facilitate career development in the waste industry by providing exposure to a range of business environments
  • To empower young professionals to take an active role in the waste industry through wider WMAA activities.

Membership of the Queensland YPs is open to all financial members of WMAA under the age of 35. Members generally consist of individuals working in manufacturing, landfills, waste treatment, material recovery facilities, environmental consulting, local Councils, Regional Waste Management Groups, EPA, Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, law and education.

The Working Group also has a representative on the WMAA QLD Branch Committee and connects with similar working groups in NSW, VIC and SA.
