WA Resource and Energy Recovery Working Group

The WA Resource and Energy Recovery Working Group (RER, formerly Energy from Waste) is a working group of the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA).  The Group supports the development of a viable R&ER industry in WA that operates within the framework of ecologically sustainable development. It provides support, information, advocacy and leadership to waste industry professionals who have an interest in energy from waste and alternative waste technology issues.

Objectives of the working group are:

  • Facilitate sharing of relevant information among its members
  • Provide support for appropriate and sustainable R&ER initiatives in WA
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of an understanding of R&ER issues within the waste profession and the wider community in WA
  • To provide input into national issues through the WMAA National Resource and Energy Recovery Division

Membership of the WA Resource and Energy Recovery Working Group is open to all financial members of WMAA. Members generally consist of technology and service providers, local and state government, consultants, legal advisors and waste generators.

The Working Group is part of the WMAA National Resource and Energy Recovery Division and has a representative on the WMAA WA Branch Committee.

Meetings are generally held each month and teleconference facilities are provided for members in regional areas.
