The WMAA National Carbon Division was formed in 2008 to:
- help share information with the industry about the unfolding carbon policy framework, its impacts on different parts of the industry, how those impacts might be managed, and about the interactions between waste management and climate change generally
- provide a forum for discussing these issues
- provide a vehicle for responding to government proposals.
The Division works closely with the WMAA National Landfill Division, the industry sector most directly affected by carbon policy. The National Carbon Division, however, also considers the perspectives of landfill customers and other affected waste management sectors (e.g. recyclers and organics processors).
