Construction & Demolition (C&D) (WA)
|
| Objective |
|
To reduce the volume of C&D Waste to landfill in an environmentally economic and sustainable manner.
|
| Goals |
- Identify and agree on one recycled C&D material and work with relevant government and industry bodies to establish and implement a plan for developing and introducing state-wide specifications.
- Develop and implement a plan to engage with relevant industry associations (e.g. Master Builders, Property Council, UDIA) to highlight the benefits of recycling C&D materials and how various C&D materials can be recycled in Perth rather than disposed to landfill
- Identify one material type from the C&D sector that could be readily recycled (but isn’t currently being recycled effectively) and identify potential end markets
- For the material type identified in goal 3, develop and implement a plan engaging relevant organisations to recover, reprocess and sell recycled products
- The working group agreed at its July 2011 meeting that the following material type would become the focus for goal 1: Concrete and rubble by-products
- The working group agreed at its August 2011 meeting that the following material type would become the focus for goal 3: Timber
