Erosion and Sedimentation Control Guidelines.
The Landfill Working Group has hosted two seminars on these guidelines that are due out later this year.
Phytoremediation.
Researchers have been in touch with the LWG and members are now involved in trialling this new technology.
Alternative Daily Cover Material.
In 2004 a technical seminar was held on new technology designed to save air space in landfills. This technology is now being used at several sites in NSW with DEC approval.
Solid Waste Landfill Guidelines.
DEC are preparing new solid waste guidelines. The Landfill Working Group has held several meetings with DEC staff to present industry views on the process.
Representations to Regulators.
The LWG has represented its members to DEC on issues relating to waste regulation and levies.
Review of the POEO Act.
Representatives of DEC have made presentations to members regarding the review of the Act and changes to the waste regulations.
Dioxin Reporting.
The LWG were invited to prepare a response to the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Heritage draft document on dioxin release from all sources in Australia, including landfills.
