| Background |
| The process of forming the NSW Waste Educators Working Group began in 1998 after a very successful Waste Educate conference held in Sydney. At that time, waste educators felt that the time was right to formally start the process of raising the awareness of education and its value in changing behaviour and raising awareness, within the wider waste management industry. |

| To be the peak professional waste education group within NSW to build the capacity of waste educators in delivering effective education for behaviour change and to raise the profile of the profession. |

| Membership |
| Working Group The Waste Educators’ Working Group is a group of educators working within the waste, sustainability and/or environmental management sectors who share a common goal of advancing waste education within this industry. The members come from industry, government, and community. Membership is on a voluntary basis and all members are invited to take part in WEWG activities. Members must have membership of the WMAA (individual or corporate) to participate. WEWG Committee A committee of the Waste Educators’ Working Group made up of self nominated representatives has been formed to oversee areas such as: planning WEWG meetings; booking venues and speakers; distributing information; working on joint tasks; and, other activities as they arise. The Committee is made up of a Chair, Deputy-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and WMAA Representative. Committee members will retain their positions for the period of a year and stand for nomination at the March (or nearest) WEWG meeting. |
| Responsibility |
| The Waste Educators Working Group reports to the WMAA National Education Division, with other groups from Victoria, Queensland, WA, Tasmania, ACT and South Australia. |
| Frequency |
| The Waste Education Working Group meets quarterly and the Committee meets quarterly. |
| Review |
| These Terms of Reference will be reviewed on an annual basis. |
