The Compost Australia (CA) Committee generally meets at 3 pm EST on the fourth Thursday of each month, however, this is occasionally adjusted to coordinate with other events of interest. Meetings are held in person and via conference call facilities. The physical location of the meetings moves around the States of Australia but is most often at the Burwood (NSW) office of WMAA. Meetings occasionally coincide with seminars, conferences and other special events in the State that hosts the meeting.
Agenda and minutes are in a standardised format. The focus is on decision making, recording proposed actions and follow up of actions. In most cases, the Chair will informally request that a resolution be passed. However, where an important decision must be taken and the result is not obvious, a resolution will be formally proposed, seconded and voted on by the Committee.
A detailed agenda is prepared prior to the meeting and includes a short description of the decision, a proposed resolution and if necessary an attached report. Members must submit their agenda items to the Secretariat no later than 24 hours prior to the meeting and items are considered on a first come first served basis. Agenda items that do not get addressed will generally be carried over to the next meeting.
