In 2006 the winner is someone who has made an outstanding contribution to both the Association and the Waste Industry.
Ron Wainberg was a founding member of Compost NSW in 1997, was the NSW rep on the National Committee from 1998-2000, branch treasurer from 1998-2000, NSW Branch President from 2001-2003, founding member of the Energy from Waste Division, Editor of the WMAA News from 1999-2002 and is currently the National Knowledge Manager.
He was the inaugural chair of the AWT/DORF Joint Working group, which is likely to have the greatest single impact of any forum on the outputs and end uses of AWT technology derived materials, and has been the Chair of the NSW Waste Management Conference for the past two years. Most recently he has been appointed to the editorial board of the Journal of the International Solid Waste Association, Waste Management Research in a volunteer capacity.
These are just some of Dr Ron Wainberg's many contributions to the WMAA and the waste management industry in general. It is with great pleasure that the Association honours him with the John Guice Award in 2006.
